Objective: Foster a culture of support and wellbeing within the community, where neighbour looks out for neighbour, aiming to reduce the need for NHS support as the climate crisis intensifies.
This Assembly will discuss how we can design new ways in which we, as a community, might prevent mental wellbeing decline, and address anxiety and low-level depression before we need NHS help. Even now, our NHS services are being overwhelmed in this area. As the climate crisis deepens, what can we do to help ourselves? So, we will be asking…
How can we catch those of us suffering from anxiety or mild depression before we need medical help?
How can we create a cultural shift in how we address mental wellbeing, where we look out for each other, using/creating networks & groups dedicated to building a supportive community?
This might include families working together, creating dedicated places or spaces, or a drop-in centre, and perhaps involve health professionals dedicated to prevention. The cornerstone of this shift is based on the premise that “It’s okay not to feel okay, but it’s not okay not to talk about it.”
